The feature film “In the Arms of the Tree”, directed by Babak Khajeh Pasha and produced by Mohammad Reza Mesbah and Sajjad Nasrollahi Nasab, won two awards at the Within the Family International Film Festival, held from July 1 to 7, 2025 (11 to 17 Tir 1404) in Moscow.
This film, a joint production of the Soureh Cinematic Organization and the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, won the Best Film award at this international event. Additionally, the film’s lead actress, Maral Baniadam, received the Best Actress award.
The Within the Family festival, one of the prestigious cinematic events focusing on family-oriented and child-centric films, brings together films from around the world each year to showcase family values, human relationships, and issues related to children through the lens of cinema. In the recent edition, the jury, made up of distinguished international film experts and filmmakers, praised Maral Baniadam’s performance as one of the film’s key strengths.
“In the Arms of the Tree”, which had already received significant attention from critics and audiences at both domestic and international festivals, further demonstrated the ability of Iranian cinema to create impactful and competitive works on the global stage with these two awards. The film’s story, which delicately and humanely addresses family and social issues, has captivated international audiences and jurors through its powerful narrative and the artistic direction of Babak Khajeh Pasha.
Previously, this film has also won several awards at various domestic and international festivals.
