According to the Public Relations of the Soureh Documentary Center, the cinematic documentary “Trick”, directed and produced by Jafar Sadeghi, has been selected for the Official Section of the Girona International Film Festival in Spain.
This festival is one of the prestigious and long-established cinematic events in Europe, held annually in the historic city of Girona in the Catalonia region, and hosts works by independent filmmakers from around the world.
The documentary “Trick,” a product of the Soureh Documentary Center, is an intimate and inspiring narrative of the efforts of a compassionate wrestling coach who, through his own initiative and personal expense, trains children and teenagers interested in the sport and prepares them for official wrestling competitions. The film portrays a sincere and human look behind the scenes of this coach’s life and challenges—a man who has replaced financial resources and government support with the love for his students and the belief in change.
While showcasing the passion, camaraderie, and effort among the younger generation, the documentary raises a social question about the role of grassroots coaches in nurturing talent and sustaining the spirit of sport in society. The realistic and honest narrative of the film has led to “Trick” being noticed by the Girona Festival selection committee among this year’s documentary submissions.
The Girona Film Festival will be held from November 4 to 8, 2025, and the screening of “Trick” is scheduled for the International Feature Documentary section. The presence of this film at one of Spain’s most respected independent festivals is considered an important step for introducing Iranian documentary cinema and independent Iranian artists to the global stage.
The international distribution of the documentary “Trick” is managed by the Soureh International Center.
